Preventing a Fall

Tips:
- Remove throw rug, or tack them down
- Be cautious on wet leaves or ice
- Remove end tables from center of room or areas of traffic
- Ensure cane is in a safe place and not laying in a traffic area
- If you are on 4 or more medications, talk with your doctor
- Wear appropriate shoes, ensure laces are ties

Upper Body Dressing
1. Use strong arm to gather shirt
2. Use strong arm to put weak arm into the sleeve of shirt
3. Put strong arm into the other sleeve of shirt
4. Use strong arm to pull the shirt over head and back
5. Adjust the shirt with strong arm
Lower Body Dressing Instructions
1. Use both arms to cross weak leg  over strong leg
2. Thread weak leg through pant leg with arms
3. Use arms to place weak leg on ground
4. Thread strong leg through pant leg
5. Stand to pull pants over bottom
*If it is unsafe to stand you can sit and lift hips on side at a time to pull pants over bottom
